The Point Fire
At about 12:45 PM on Sunday, June 16, 2024 the Point Fire started south of Lake Sonoma and entered the W. Dry Creek Rd. neighborhood northwest of Healdsburg, CA. As of this post, the fire has consumed approximately 1200 acres and is 75% contained after 6 days of dedicated efforts by firefighters and first responders. Around 1000 firefighters were deployed, many of them assign to structure protection duties. Approximately 10 structures, including several homes were destroyed.
Many fire prevention experts have commented that this is early in the year to be having two substantial fires in the Cal Fire LNU region.
Here is an example of Defensible Space that may have saved this home.
