On May 22, 2025, I was honored to present alongside architects Natasha Juliana and Ann Edminster on wildfire preparedness at the 2025 US Green Building Conference at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Hundreds of people attended to learn about sustainability and green building approaches such as passive construction. Passive building construction utilizes minimal ventilation design, thereby reducing the amount of vents, and thus limits the amount of openings where embers or firebrands can ignite a structure. My presentation focused on many topics including situational awareness of fire wea
ther, structure hardening through products such as Wildfire Defense Mesh (pictured below), and the environmental health impacts of urban conflagrations. I was thrilled to be selected to speak at this highly regarded event!
